Empowering Future Generations Through the Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad x MYKasih Aquaponics Initiative

KUALA LUMPUR, 31 MARCH 2026 – Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad (AMB), in collaboration with MYKasih Foundation, has launched an impactful aquaponics initiative aimed at empowering students through hands-on learning, sustainability, and nutrition. Rooted in the spirit of giving back, this initiative reflects a meaningful mission to share both “Rezeki” and knowledge with the community.
Through this collaboration, AMB contributed RM15,000 to install a modern aquaponics system in a local school, transforming a simple idea into a dynamic learning platform. More than just infrastructure, the system represents a long-term investment in education by creating opportunities for students to engage with real-world applications of science and food production.
The initiative traces its origins to AMB’s 2025 Merdeka Campaign, where every RM1 collected from contest entries was channelled into the MYKasih fund. As a result, the aquaponics system standing today is not merely a physical structure, but a symbol of collective contributions from Malaysians, brought to life to benefit the next generation.
Guided by the Ajinomoto Group’s global slogan, “Eat Well, Live Well,” the project is designed to address social needs through education and nutrition. The aquaponics system serves as a “living science lab,” allowing students to observe and understand the natural relationship between fish and plants, while gaining practical exposure to STEM concepts in an engaging and interactive environment.
At the same time, the system promotes environmental sustainability by operating without chemical pesticides and minimising water usage. This approach helps instil a “Sayangi Bumi” mindset among students, encouraging them to appreciate the importance of protecting the environment through responsible and sustainable food production practices.
As a food company, AMB also places strong emphasis on nutrition, where the vegetables and fish harvested from the system provide essential nutrients and amino acids that support students’ physical and cognitive development. Beyond that, the initiative aims to shift perceptions of agriculture by showcasing it as a modern, technology-driven field, inspiring students to explore future opportunities as innovators in food and agriculture.
Implemented in collaboration with Negeri Sembilan State Education Department and the District Education Office (PPD), this initiative ensures that education and innovation go hand-in-hand. Through this effort, AMB continues to reinforce its commitment to nurturing a generation that is not only academically capable, but also environmentally conscious and ready to shape a healthier, more sustainable future.
