At Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad's new plant, we utilise the municipal water supply for production and office activities, particularly to maintain product hygiene. To reduce reliance on municipal water, a 20kL rainwater harvesting system has been implemented for landscape irrigation and general cleaning purposes.

Our Rainwater Harvesting System

Collected rainwater from the roof for landscape irrigation and general cleaning purposes.

In conjunction with the SHE Week for FYE2025, a tree planting initiative titled “1 Department 1 Tree” was held on the opening day of SHE Week, on 25 September 2024, at AMB’s production plant. The initiative, organised in collaboration with Free Tree Society (“FTS”), saw the planting of 23 herbal tree saplings, symbolically representing each department and officer group. The selected species included Putat, Cinnamon, Clove and Ylang Ylang, chosen for their environmental value and health-related benefits.

We are committed to further reduction in water use in our production processes, maintaining forests for water natural resources and engaging in other actions to create an environment that allows for sustainable water usage. Our efforts to reduce water consumption, other than rainwater tanks, involve recycling wastewater, resulting in approximately 30% of the final discharge being allocated for scrubber and irrigation usage.

We target to recycle 30% of treated wastewater from the wastewater treatment plant for landscape irrigation and the scrubber system as part of GBI requirements to conserve our precious resource.
