Ajinomoto Safety, Health And Environment Awareness Campaign

KUALA LUMPUR, APRIL 26TH, 2018 – Malaysians generally spend the biggest bulk of time at respective workplace. Almost all workplaces are full of hazards and risks regardless whether it is related to physical, biological, chemical, ergonomic or psycho-social. In Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad (AMB), providing safer and healthier workplace environment to all the employees is an unwavering commitment.

In line with AMB Occupational Safety and Health Policy, the company took an initiative to hold Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Week with the slogan “Think Safety, Work Safely”. The programme was jointly launched in AMB premises at Kuchai Lama by Chief Executive Officer/ Managing Director of AMB, Ms. Naoko Yamamoto and Federal Territory Environment Department Director, Puan Norlin Jaafar.

During the ceremony, Mr. Ramesh Sadiappan, Manager Responsible for Safety, Health & Environment emphasized the two main objectives of this program. Firstly, this program was aimed to continuously enhance the awareness, engagement and commitment of employees towards Safety, Health and Environment’s requirements, practices, rules and regulations. Secondly, it was crucial to instill SHE culture in daily operation to enhance effective workplace hazard anticipation.

Many related activities had been organised through collaborations with relevant external bodies including the authorities. Hands-on fire fighting program was held with the support of Fire Service Department (BOMBA) while health screening and talk was arranged with Columbia Asia Hospital. Traffic Police was invited for a session on ‘Prevention of Commuting Accident’ while representatives from Department of Environment (DOE) Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur were there for an exhibition on Environment Preservation and Management. Besides that, activities like First Aid & CPR training, Solid waste management briefing and SHE awareness treasure hunt had been the other highlights of SHE Week.

Through those activities, stronger sense of gratefulness towards the Safety, Health and Environment had been inculcated among AMB employees. Moreover, they were better equipped with knowledge and skills related to Safety, Health and Environment to continue practicing for safer and cleaner workplace in the daily routines.
